For the first time since 2008, the International Orchestra Conference will be taking place in North America, (Montreal), at the invitation of GMMQ (local section 406 of AFM) and under the patronage of Quebec orchestra conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin. As in the previous three editions, the choice of speakers from the five continents will reflect the widest geographical diversity.
Since the first IOC edition, FIM has aimed at fostering dialogue and exchanges between musicians and directors, with a view to opening up relationships. Thanks to partnership with the Association of Canadian Orchestras, the 2017 edition offers Canadian directors increased participation during the first one and a half days.
Up to 31 March, you can take advantage of reduced registration fees $150CA (approximately €105) instead of $200CA. In addition, those travelling to Montreal by plane are eligible for a 10 to 15% discount on Air Canada lines.
In two months’ time, the 4th IOC in Montreal will be welcoming some 300 professional musicians, together with symphony and opera orchestra directors from all over the world
We would invite you to consult all practical information on the IOC website, where you will also find details of the programme and list of speakers. All delegates will be welcomed by a cocktail on the evening of 11 May and will receive an invitation for the gala concert of the Concours Musical International de Montréal on the evening of 12 May.
Last but not least, for the conference, the “FIM Airline of choice 2017” prize will be awarded to the airline company with the most favourable commercial policy where accepting music instruments in the passenger cabin is concerned.
