President, Regional Orchestra Players‘ Association
Carla Lehmeier-Tatum has been a cellist with the New Mexico Symphony for 22 years. She received her college training at the University of Arizona and Ohio University-Athens. It is her passion for protecting the rights and interests of musicians that motivated her to become chair of several orchestra committees, negotiations committees and President of the Regional Orchestra Players’ Association (ROPA) Board. She is also a member of the AFM-Albuquerque Local 618 Board.
Carla has served on the Regional Orchestra Players Association (ROPA) board since 2004 and has been the ROPA President for the past 2 and half years. She has participated in national AFM media negotiations and has spoken at Symphonic Players Conferences, AFM Convention, symphonic training institutions and rallies across the United States on behalf of Symphonic musicians. Her speaking engagements include the Kennedy Center’s orchestral management fellowship training program. Her duties as ROPA President include consultations with many of the 83 Regional Orchestra Players Association member orchestras.
