Arto Hoornweg has been a member of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra since 1982, where he played with all major conductors like Bernhard Haitink, Simon Rattle and Valery Guergjev. He taught trumpet at the Rotterdam Conservatory until 1984 and since then at the Utrecht Conservatory (School of the Arts). He finished his solo diploma at the Rotterdam Conservatory (1980) cum laude.
He has been a member of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, and is a founding member of the Netherlands Brass Quintet, with whom he played all over the world. Mr. Hoornweg played with all major orchestras in the Netherlands and numerous chamber ensembles. He has played in all major cities of the world. He made his debut as soloist with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw at age 19, and was the last student of the late James Stamp in Los Angeles, until his death in 1985.
